Here at Mailbox Monday, we want to encourage participants to not only share the books they received, but to check out the books others have received.

To that end, we’ve decided to share “Books that Caught Our Eye” with you. Each week, LeslieSerena and Vicki  will each share 2 books that caught their eye from that week’s Mailbox Monday and share them here.

We encourage you to share the books that caught your eye in the coSerenamments.

Here are the books that caught our eye this week:

SERENA
20603407Pride and Prejudice, Retold in Limericks by Séamus O’Leprechaun @ Diary of an Eccentric
This one captures two of my favorites in one — Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Limericks. How could this not be fun, particularly banter between Darcy and Elizabeth.

The Girls from Corona del Mar by Rufi Thorpe  @ 18518285Bermudaonion
This sounds like a good summer read about the friendships we make in our youth and how the tragedies and other experiences we have change us and ultimately those relationships we formed when we were young.

LESLIE
18007638The Mix & Match Guide to Companion Planting by Josie Jeffrey @ Savvy Verse And Wit
I’ve had a mostly organic vegetable garden for years and years, and have often noticed that some plants do better or worse depending on who they are growing next to. I’m happy to find a book that will help make some of these planting decisions easier – and more fruitful.

A Dangerous Fiction by Barbara Rogan @ Book Dilettante 16158594
This was published last year, but I hadn’t heard about it. Described as “A romp of a publishing mystery”, it sounds good to me. Plus, it’s the start of a new series, and I like to start at the beginning.

VICKI
18667862Like No Other by Una LaMarche @ The Reading Date
This is about two people who meet when they are stuck in an elevator during a hurricane, make a connection, and since their being together is forbidden, they start meeting secretly. I’ve been through many hurricanes (scary) and also been stuck in an elevator (scary). Being stuck in an elevator during a hurricane? That would be scarier than scary, don’t you think? I’d like to see if their romance lasts or if society tears them apart.

Season to Taste by Natalie Young @ Bermudaonion 18774023
A woman kills her husband. Then she cuts him up, cooks him, and eat him. Gross Gross Gross!! But…it’s like a car wreck. I don’t want to read it but I’m too intrigued not to. From the blurb: “In Lizzie Prain, Natalie Young has created one of the most remarkable and surprising heroines in fiction.”

  1. I have to get a copy of P&P Retold in Limericks–what a kick!

The companion planting book also looks good–I know a little about this topic, but would like to know more.

    Nice selection of books.

  2. Companion planting is what I’m going for in 2015. The garden is growing well for what’s left, but we have some bug pests and rabbits here that I need to be vigilant about…not to mention birds.
