Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Work has been crazy busy these last few weeks, and it has stressed me out to no end.  On top of that, our car broke down and cost us a pretty penny to get back on the road.  With funds tight still, this was a devastating blow, and means that our lovely vacation plans — it’s rare we have the same week off, my husband and I — are off.  We’ll be spending it at home. 😦  I’d love to hear about everyone else’s vacation fun or what you do if you have a stay-cation with family.

I hope everyone had a good book week and some new arrivals in their mailbox.

Be sure to stop back here on Wednesday when I will post a selection of Books That Caught Our Eye.

  1. Hi Serena,

Don’t talk to me about cars. Having recently spent the best part of about $1,500 on servicing and repairs, four days out of the garage, I am back where I started from with all kinds of warning lights flashing and a mechanic telling me the best option would be to drive it until it breaks down, as it will be easier to diagnose the problem at that point!

No holiday for us again this year either I’m afraid, so for the third year in a row we had to wave our relatives off on a flight to Orlando, whilst we remain very much home birds, here in the UK ….. Jealous? – Us? … Not Much!!

Just one new book on the shelves this week. This is another gutsy sounding thriller from the pen of Doug Richardson and is called ’99 Percent Kill’

I hope that your luck improves soon and that you enjoy your staycation together 🙂

    • Thanks, Yvonne. This is just the latest in a string of repairs that have come to pass and others that we need to do in the near future. It’s a long road, but it must be done. It’ll be the first time in a long while that we’ll have the same vacation, so hopefully, we’ll just do things for fun and that cost little.

    • Oh, I hear you on that too. I have some house repairs that need doing as well. We just replaced the water heater at the end of last year, so we’re biding our time on others.

  2. Happy Mailbox Monday! Relaxing, watching awesome movies, and listening to audiobooks without being on a work schedule can feel like a vacation.
