Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

It’s been so many weeks of isolation and social distancing here in Maryland, I’ve lost track of the days. While I do miss our friends and my daughter longs for the pool and her swim team, I am thankful that none of us have had to deal with the virus, especially as my husband was required to work this entire time at his locations. These are the small things that keep me focused on the purpose of all this. Curbing the spread. It is so important. More now than ever, as states here begin the reopening processes.

I hope that everyone is well and that you’ve had time to read or at least, unlike me, an ability to focus on what you’re reading. I hope some of you have received some great books to share with us.

Don’t forget to check back for Books That Caught Our Eye at the end of the week, and share your picks.

  1. Hi Serena,

I agree with just about everything you said entirely. Lockdown restrictions are starting to be eased here in the UK from tomorrow, however if you could see the way that some people are behaving, I can more or less guarantee that a second spike is going to be inevitable! – Either that, or the government have been having us on this whole time and we could have been getting on with normal life weeks ago!

Luckily my husband has bee working from home, as he has underlying health conditions which mean he isn’t allowed to go in the office, even though he is a key worker. We have been out for three or four short walks in all the three lockdown months and even then, we have given people a very wide berth, everything else has been delivered in and that’s the way I intend to keep it for the next couple of weeks at least!

My sector of retail isn’t going to be opening again for a few weeks yet, so I have had plenty of time to try and get all my posts scheduled well ahead of time and I have managed to read more than usual, although concentration has come in very small short bursts, along with the enthusiasm, so I have had to make the most of those times!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and host and make sure that you continue to take care 🙂

    • My immediate family has been well, but a cousin of mine had COVID and friends of mine in healthcare have had it as well. One has recovered well, her husband is still dealing with it, and the second friend is just beginning to deal with the brunt of it. I hope that we do adhere to CDC guidelines.

  2. I’m glad to hear your family is well. My office opened last week. I’ve only been there once, but I am showing houses again. It’s so weird wearing masks and gloves everywhere. It’s kind of a pain, but we need to stay safe.

  3. I know what you mean about the days! I have to look at the calendar all the time. Portland is still shut down. And now we have been on an 8:00 pm curfew because of rioting. So things are very strange around here.

    • I’m in the suburbs outside DC but the protests here in Maryland have been peaceful. No riots so far, so I hope it remains that way. I understand the rage/anger, but vandalism and rioting has never solved anything. We need to work together to solve the problem.
