Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Still in isolation here. Our county is only in phase 1 while the rest of Maryland is entering phase 2, I think. So hard to keep track. This is my daughter’s final week of school through distance learning, but I’m not sure I want distance learning to end because I feel like she’ll lose so much of her knowledge over the summer. This is just a depressing situation. I’m trying to see the bright side of summer beginning.

I’ve read a few poetry books and listened to a couple of full fiction novels. I’ve attended some free poetry workshops, which helped me write some more poems. That has been nice. I hope you are all doing well and have some good books to share with everyone.

Don’t forget to check back for Books That Caught Our Eye at the end of the week, and share your picks.

  1. Life is all over the place, here in the UK. There are so many different rules for different groups of people and the government change their minds from day to day, so I just don’t know where I stand any more!

I am almost at the stage where I don’t want lockdown to end, as people are being so stupid, that I can see a second spike on the horizon!

Reading and blogging are keeping me sane right now, so let’s concentrate on all those amazing new books featured this week 🙂

    • I can imagine just wanting to stay in. I hear you on all the different rules. We have similar things going on here – at least in my state. I’m living in a more cautious county, so we’re not as open as other counties.

  2. We enter Phase 2 tomorrow. Outdoor dining allowed, but no services that put people close together like tattoos and piercings, hair removal, etc. Stores open with limited capacity. I will take what I can get.

    • Maryland itself is entering Phase 2, but my county is about 1 phase behind — we are one of two counties with the highest COVID cases and those have only started to decline in the last week. I’ll be happy to have things open but I’ll be super cautious. We do have parks with trails open, so we did go to the regional park for a hike.

  3. Portland is the same, Yvonne and Serena. The rest of the state is open, but Portland isn’t. Or is it? No one really knows any more. It’s all mixed up. Like you, I’m waiting to see what happens as things open up.

    • In this area, it is particularly a struggle because many people live in one state and commute to DC for work or vice versa. So all the different rules can be a bit messy. I wish they were more coordinated
