Welcome to Mailbox Monday. MM is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: MM can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

I LOVE my Kindle Fire. I could gush about this gadget for days. It’s prefect for me. It does everything I expected it would. I wasn’t looking for a high-end productivity tablet. I didn’t want to pay for an expensive data plan. I wanted a tablet that would give me easy access to web surfing, email, visual media and games. My Fire does all that and probably more I haven’t discovered yet. I’m a very visual person so I love having color book covers again. πŸ™‚ I haven’t had any issues that other users at Amazon have written about. Registration and set up was easy. I’ve streamed Notting Hill and added pictures to the Gallery app. Picture quality is fantastic. I didn’t have any glitches when streaming video – smooth.

The one thing my Fire won’t do is replace my K3/w keyboard. I never intended for my Fire to become my primary e-reader. I can and do read on it at the gym but for longer periods I’ll use my K3. The Fire does have a back-lit screen, which I knew when I purchased it. For reading I simply give the book a cream-colored background and lower the brightness. Doing that makes it more comfortable for reading for the second hour of my workout. The first hour I spend watching TV shows. My movie & TV show wish list is darn near as long as my book wish list. Right now I’m working my way through The Tudors. Once Amazon gets viewing rights to The Borgias I’ll be set.

  2. I’m glad you’re loving the Fire. Sounds like the perfect device for you! I upgraded from the K2 to the Touch. I’m liking it so far but have only had it for a couple of days.
Thanks for hosting MM in November.

  7. We watched the first half of The Tudors and then fell behind… and haven’t tried to catch up yet. It was a great way to get history, though it left me wanting to find my textbook to check some of their facts. πŸ™‚ I’m expected quite a few books in the mail in the next few weeks, so I was super excited to get one last week and start reading it. Paper copy, as I haven’t gotten into ebooks yet. πŸ™‚

  8. How awesome!! It sure looks and sounds impressive, hope you have tons of fun with it. πŸ™‚
I got the Nook Color a few months ago and love it too! It’s my first ereader so I’ve got a lot to learn still. My hubby and I figured out how to use a memory card to make it a dual Nook and android tablet now. Very cool as I can get books and apps from B&N and Amazon! It’s also twice as much for me to figure out though. πŸ˜‰
    Enjoy!!

  9. Wow, that’s awesome, Marcia! Sounds like a great piece of technology. Would love to get my hands on one. Maybe I’ll luck up and win one. πŸ˜‰

Thanks for hosting Mailbox Monday this month and thanks again for Graveminder. I received it a few days ago.
